“We Are All in the Same Band,” the new DVD from Catherine’s band Come Gather Round Us, is available at CDBaby.com! The band’s first audio-visual release offers a window into the ‘live’ recording process that resulted in their second studio album.

Employing a variety of visual styles, Seattle-based filmmaker Keith Rivers conveys some songs in one beautiful shot, while others are stitched lovingly into exciting music videos. Rivers highlights the band’s commitment to performance over studio trickery, pulling back the curtain to reveal a band that really plays.

In addition to the main feature, there are 40-minutes of special features, starting with a live version of a never-before-recorded song, “Different Every Time.” Other features include live performances in Portland, California and Berlin, music videos, and an extended trailer for the forthcoming documentary film, “Remember Where You Are” (due at film festivals Spring 2012!).

Catherine and Come Gather Round Us Announce British Dates

Catherine announced that her forthcoming 8-date tour of the UK will feature Come Gather Round Us. The band, a collaboration between Feeny and her husband Sebastian Rogers, as well as instrumentalists Jon Neufeld (Black Prairie, Jack Straw) and Mike Danner (Trashcan Joe), is set for the British release of its second album to coincide with the October dates. “Coming together with these three artists has been challenging and exciting for me,” says Feeny. “I can’t wait to share the complexity and richness with folks in the UK.” See the ‘Tours’ page for dates.

It’s been a busy Fall/Winter. I hit the road in September for my first US club tour in support of my new album “People in the Hole,” and haven’t hit the ground much since. September was a mix of headline dates and support slots with Chris Pureka (a brilliant artist that you should know). My mom came with me on the East Coast dates, and it was the most consistent time we’ve spent together in years — which was great. She was also pretty killer on the merch stand.

At the beginning of October I went straight from North Carolina to Brussels and started a European tour with COME GATHER ROUND US — the band I am in with Jon Neufeld, Mike Danner and the Challenge of Feral Green (aka my husband). We played Brussels, Ghent, Silly, Lille, Berlin, Karlsruhe and a few other cities and towns, shifting between bars, theaters and houses. It was the first time we’ve managed to get all four of us out on the road together and it was incredible. The shock of the tour was a sold-out show in Barcelona, where we had never before played so much as a note!

December brought a homecoming tour to England, where I had the opportunity to revel in the beauty of sparsity… acoustic shows with a bit of accompaniment from TCOFG. It was so good to reconnect with folks in the UK — they are true music lovers. There were many great moments but the one that springs to mind is taking over a quiet pub to play a few songs to two young girls who had mistakenly bought tickets and traveled a long way to attend an over-21 show that they were not allowed into. One girl was crying when she found out they weren’t allowed in, which almost made me cry… I was so relieved when the promoter suggested I could play them songs somewhere else… so we walked down the road and found an establishment that was less choosey about their clientele : )

OK, gotta run… next episode is the Mexican tour — for real : )
